Becoming Adults in a Changing World

Program Youth Participation in Research – Wednesday 31 May

To strengthen the societal impact of research, researchers increasingly seek ways to actively involve children and youth in their projects, but how do you design youth participation projects in such a way that is meaningful to both researchers and youth? To explore this question and learn from each other, Dynamics of Youth and Healthy Start co-organize a knowledge exchange session on Wednesday 31st May in the Social Impact Factory in Utrecht (directly across from Utrecht Central Station).

The event is intended for researchers who are experienced with youth participation in research ánd for researchers who would like to get started with youth participation.

Program:

  • 13.00 Arrival
  • 13.30 Opening Plenary
  • 14.15 Parallel Sessions (zee below)
  • 16.00 Closing Plenary
  • 17.00 Departure

You can choose one of the following parallel sessions:

  1. Do’s and Don’ts of Youth Participation in Transdisciplinary Research [in Dutch], Facilitated by dr. Lysanne te Brinke, YoungXperts

In this workshop you will discover through practical experiences and concrete tips how to implement participation processes and tools in a way that suits young people. How do you, for example, reach the right target audience and at what time? How do you build an inclusive, sustainable, and equitable collaboration? What kind of working methods do you use? And how do you provide feedback on the findings?

  1. Exchanging Experiences with Youth Participation in Research: Reflection, Insights, and Adjustments [in English]

Through collaborative reflection, this workshop aims to foster a deeper understanding of youth participation in research and equip participants with valuable insights and ideas for improving their own research practices.  Participants will be encouraged to ask questions, reflect on their own assumptions, and collectively organize their thoughts.

You are warmly invited to come and participate, however experienced or inexperienced you may feel. You can register your participation via this form.
